When a client comes to you wanting the same colour scheme throughout their house it is an interesting and challenging proposition. This family in Bangalore came to us with a very clear vision – they wanted an elegant, contemporary home with all Black and White interiors. We brought home to life by incorporating clean simple lines, playing with the high contrast of black and white, and adding touches of grey for a bit of variation.

In the living room a customized entertainment unit with storage below and above the television was created based on the family’s requirement. The platform in black provides a dramatic break in the otherwise white on white scheme. There is an additional storage unit on the side which combines open and closed shelves. Here again black become a central focal point in a white scheme.

For the kitchen, we chose the Diamante kitchen from Veneta Cucine as it exudes minimalist elegance in the way it combines tempered lacquered glass doors with metal edges.

While the white countertops add a sense of brightness, the steel finish fixed appliances compliment the metal edges of the doors. The other appliances have been picked in red to add a pop of bright colour within the kitchen.

As it is an open kitchen there was a focus on closed shelves that keep everything neat and concealed.

Instead of stark black doors, the kitchen features grey doors to provide some variation. The handles are both functional and an interesting design element.

On end of the kitchen opens is a space with a buffet unit/ sideboard. The unit has soft closure doors and drawers with lacquer finish. The glossy finish looks great set against the matte butchwork grey stone wall.

A modern, glossy black custom shelf doubles as storage and bar counter within the dining room.

Nothing could be more soothing, comfortable and relaxing than the all-white scheme of this bedroom. The entire Villa Veneta bedroom composition comes together with a back panel finished in eco leather, matte lacquer shelves and glossy lacquered side tables.

The bedroom opens into a luxurious walk-in wardrobe. The sliding doors optimize space while the tall mirror is functional and adds depth.

In another bedroom an L-shaped wardrobe provides ample storage with customized internal shelves, storage and a dressing unit. The all white laminate finish gives a spacious feeling in an otherwise small and dark room.

The bedrooms also have customized study units that provide further storage.

Across all the areas of the house the black and white scheme succeeds in maximizing the natural light. It also gives a perception of enhanced space and depth. While the overall look is minimalist and subtle it still creates a warm and inviting family space.
